TENBY are through to the next round of the West Wales Intermediate Cup after their six-goal thriller against Pennar Robins was decided by an extraordinary penalty shoot-out on the 3G pitch in Pembroke .

It was 3-3 at the end of extra time of an absorbing tie as tired legs made their way towards the centre circle but no-one could have foreseen what happened next.

It was 4-4 after the five allocated spot-kick takers for both teams had taken their efforts with Tenby keeper Dylan Noot denying Ben Adams and Pennar shot-stopper Rory Williams saving Samuel Butler’s attempt.

The next 22 penalties found the back of the net before Pennar’s Daniel James missed giving Jerome Williams the opportunity to decide the tie and he kept his composure to give Tenby the win, 16-15 on penalties!

In normal time, Jamie Wilkes gave the Robins the lead on the half hour but Tenby hit back through Jerome Williams and Jacob Hipkiss to take a narrow 2-1 lead into the break.

Scott Ferney increased their advantage five minutes into the second half but the hosts hit back through Cameron Brunton and Adams to take it to extra time.

Goals by Jason Griffiths and Josh Thomas saw Merlins Bridge to a 2-1 win at Glynneath Town, substitute Cai Davies with a late reply for the hosts.

Goodwick United made progress into the next round with a narrow 1-0 win against visitors Cwmamman United.

Rhys Jones spurned an opportunity to give the hosts the lead from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time but showed character to step up to take another spot kick awarded late in the second half and he beat visiting keeper Kurtis Bray to secure the win.

It was more straightforward for Hakin United who saw off visitors Seaside AFC 4-0.

Ashley Bevan set the ball rolling with the opening goal midway through the first half before Jack Britton doubled their tally on 37 minutes.

Britton missed a penalty before the break but it didn’t make a difference to the outcome with Shane Walsh and substitute Jack Griffiths finding the back of the net in the second stanza.

The visitors finished with 10 players after Corey Richards was handed a second caution in the closing stages.

A couple of goals by Dylan Davies secured a 2-0 win for Monkton Swifts against CKSV whilst Swansea-based St Josephs FC beat Pontlliw 6-1 in the other tie played.
