GOODWICK United are closing in on back-to-back Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division One titles.

They now need just one win from their final three games to be crowned champions after they beat visitors Kilgetty 5-0 on Saturday.

They are also targeting an unbeaten season, their only blip of the campaign being a 1-1 draw at Hakin United back in September.

After a fairly even start to match the hosts stamped their authority on proceedings with a couple of goals in the closing stages of the half.

Will Haworth broke the deadlock with an overhead kick on 42 minutes after skipper Scott Delaney headed on Luke Hayward’s corner before Nathan Greene headed the ball past Kilgetty keeper Kurtis Marsh to make it 2-0 from another flag kick moments later.

Credit to Killgety, they stayed in the game but were dealt another blow when Kyle Marsh was handed a second caution on 76 minutes.

Goodwick took full advantage with Rhys Jones heading in number three from another corner on 81 minute, quickly followed by a Kieran Blundell finish after Marsh spilled Jones’ free kick.

Howarth bagged his brace four minutes from time to cap a fine team performance.

Hakin United remain seven points off the top following their 3-1 success against visitors Carew.

Ryan Wilson volleyed home from a corner to give the home side the lead on the quarter hour mark but Carew hit back seven minutes before the break, Marcus Griffiths with a well-struck penalty awarded after he was upended in the area by Mark Jones.

It was nip and tuck after the break with both sides having their moments until the Vikings regained the lead on 77 minutes, Shane Walsh with a near post finish after good work by Jones.

The hosts made sure of the points in stoppage time, Alfie Stotter with a clever chip over keeper Scott Richards.

Pennar Robins scored 15 unanswered goals against relegated Herbrandston.

Ben Adams led the way with five goals backed up by Jack Jones (4), Cameron Brunton (3), Noah Davison, Nick Willis and Liam Williams.
