THE Pembroke Panthers have had a very busy week, which saw the visit of Ty Francis (New York Welsh Association, based in New Jersey, New York, USA) who was responsible for linking up with the squad as shirt sponsors for the past season.

The association has indicated that it will continue their sponsorship of the Panthers as well as the South Pembs Sharks girls team.

Ty was hosted, along with visiting Conservative AM Sam Kurtz, for his very first visit to the club by Panthers and Management committee members, who thanked his Association profusely for their support for community rugby.

Last Saturday evening the Panthers held their end of season presentation in the clubhouse and had a fabulous evening, which included a sumptuous meal, the usual string of speeches and individual awards and much singing and dancing to bring to a close a very successful season.

The award winners included, Clubwoman of the Year Leah Phillips, Most Improved Player Chloe Ann McAdam, with Sophie James winning both the Coaches’ Player and Players’ Player trophies.

The senior men’s awards evening is this Friday evening at the clubhouse, tickets are on sale at the bar, which will be open from 3pm as usual.

Congratulations to Judie Roblin, who won the £500 May monthly club draw. There are still places available so anyone interested should see Mary James for the mandate forms.

The Friday evening social touch rugby sessions begin on June 7, 6-8pm, when anyone is welcome to come along to participate and enjoy some fun exercise.

The club’s coffee mornings continue to prove very popular and everyone is welcome to come along to enjoy company and refreshments every Thursday between 10am to 12.

Last week the club’s officers welcomed members of the National Parks roots to recovery MIND team, who explained what they do to support people experiencing specific issues.

The club was delighted when steward Jonathan Davies was recently awarded with the Pembrokeshire CAMRA club of the year for 2024 in recognition of the excellent customer service and consistent range and quality of the drinks on offer at the club’s bars.
