WITH all Pembroke RFC senior men’s, women’s and youth matches completed last weekend, the U15s and U12s were left to play the final two matches to end the season.
The U15s entertained Dunvant on Saturday afternoon in very hot conditions.
The teams served up a marvellously well contested game that saw many excellent tries scored by both sides.
Eventually, the visitors established and built a lead and ran out worthy winners, prior to a sumptuous BBQ, which was enjoyed by the players, parents and supporters.
Meanwhile, having won their age group at the recent County Finals Day to become Pembs U12s Champions, the squad travelled to play Carmarthen Athletic at Parc y Scarlets, in the annual Regional Age group finals day.
Thankfully they were the last match of the five kicking off at 4pm on what was an extremely hot, windless day.
Both teams put on a tremendously exciting and entertaining game, which saw the Athletic establish a lead in the first half.
The Pembroke lads rallied and won the second half two tries to one, but sadly this was not enough to take the victory.
The Pembroke coaches, parents and supporters returned extremely proud of the effort their lads had put up throughout the match and president Dilwyn Williams, on behalf of the club’s directors and management committee, congratulated the squad and coaches on their marvellously successful season.
June 7 sees the return of Friday night social touch rugby at the club, which proved a huge success in its first season last year.
The sessions start at 6pm and people of all ages and abilities are welcome to come along and enjoy some exercise and a very sociable evening’s fun.
In the weeks ahead all age groups will be holding their respective end of season awards evenings to celebrate all of their squad’s successes from the past season.
Other whole club social events are also being planned so players, members and supporters should look at the events boards at the club for details.
The directors and management committee thank all of the committees, club staff, coaches, team managers and other volunteers involved in all of the playing sections and off field support, who have given their time, enthusiasm and commitment throughout what has been a long, weather-affected season.
Everyone at the club is very proud of all of the achievements of the different playing sections of the club during the past season.
