TENBY Sailing Club’s Redwing sailors ended their 2024 season with a Red Event party last Friday.

This was to celebrate a Redwing renaissance with a challenge series of races encouraged and well-organised by dinghy sailing captain, Dan Jackson.

Four boats with multiple crews but mostly regular helms sailed a nine-race challenge series this year.

A tremendous hot and cold buffet was provided by sailors and wives and a toast was raised for the continuation of the enthusiastic Tenby Redwing fleet, followed by a well earned prizegiving.

More boats are expected to join in next year’s race series which starts on May 1st.

Results : 1, R241 ‘Rocky III’; 2, R228 ‘Pintail’; 3, R190 ‘Pegasus’; 4, R178 ‘Venus’.

Earlier that day, the annual lift-out went ahead successfully, with Caldey Boats, and other pleasure craft being secured for the winter month.

Dinghy Racing: Sunday October 6th saw the start of the Frostbite Series. Three hardy crews braved the wet and windy weather to sail two races. The sole Redwing sailed by Julian and Howard took a dip, leaving just two finishers.

Clubhouse: Sadly Terry’s quiz had to be postponed last Saturday since the quizmaster was unwell. Behind the scenes, arrangements have been made for TSC to host the National Championships next year for GP14s and Redwings.
