Tenby Sharks Boxing Club has its first Welsh champion!

Frankie Gammer came out on top in his bout at the 2025 Welsh Boxing National Championship Finals held at the Sports Wales National Centre in Cardiff on Saturday (April 27).

The weekend saw 47 finals across junior, youth, and elite categories to decide who takes gold home with them.

Sharks head coach Mark Davies said of Frankie (whose father Scott was a former professional boxer) two years ago “Frankie will be a Welsh Champion - it’s just a matter of when!” - and now he is!

“To say we are proud is an understatement...Frankie take a bow!” remarked Mark.

“Not only have you beaten everyone you've faced this season... you've also won the western division box cup before going on to be crowned Welsh Amateur Boxing Champion!

“Watching you progress over the last couple of seasons has been amazing for us coaches.

“We see the work you put in at the gym...and so does everyone else, which in turn raises the bar for everyone!

“The kids in the gym looked up to you before, you can bet your bottom dollar that this will further inspire those in the Club to chase that coveted Welsh Vest now too,” continued Mark.

“With the only four losses you've had in 19 fights coming at the hands of far more experienced national champions you are now a national champion yourself.

“We as a club couldnt be anymore proud of you champ! Enjoy your victory.

“Winning that coveted Welsh Vest is the dream of so many young welsh kids that train day in day out as they look to achieve their own little piece of history.”

Tenby Sharks based at their gym at Carew Airfield, is a club that caters for all ages and abilities around the surrounding areas of Pembrokeshire.
