HAVERFORDWEST County manager has praised his team after they secured a third place finish in the JD Cymru Premier.
Their 1-1 draw at Cardiff Met on Friday evening and Caernarfon Town’s 3-1 defeat at Penybont on Sunday gave the Bluebirds a first third place top-flight finish since the 2003/04 season.
Tony Pennock said: “We’re over the line and for us to achieve third place is fantastic.
“It’s credit to the lads, the work they’ve put in from pre-season all the way through the season.
“You get what you deserve when you work hard and they’ve been fantastic this year.
“So for our club, we’ve only been back in the league five years, to go to Europe in that time and now finish third is fantastic. Long may that continue, and hopefully we’ll improve again next season.”
Adam Roscrow’s goal five minutes before the break gave the Archers the lead but the Bluebirds drew level midway through the second half when home keeper Kelland Absalom turned the ball into the back of his own net.
Clear-cut chances were few and far between but Town showed the battling qualities that have served them so well throughout the campaign to pick up a point in their final away game of the 2024/25 season.
They will now look to finish on a high when they host champions The New Saints on Saturday ahead of the playoffs.
Pennock added: “To finish third is a huge credit to everybody at our football club, the board, Rob, Becky, all the people who work at the club, the volunteers and the lads.
“They’ve been fantastic since the day they came in pre-season.
“We just knew there was a focus about them this year that they wanted to do something special.
“We’ve achieved something that the club hasn’t done for a long time
“There’s a big prize at the end of it and we know how tough it’s going to be to win the playoffs but that’s our focus now for the next five weeks.”
