GOODWICK United took another big step towards clinching the Manderwood Pembrokeshire Division One title with a 3-1 win against Clarbeston Road on Saturday.

Hot on the heels of their victory against rivals Hakin United the previous week, the Phoenix Park hosts opened their account on the half hour through Jonny Horgan.

Rhys Jones doubled their tally from the penalty spot on the hour before the third placed visitors reduced the deficit when Matthew Davies’ free kick on 69 minutes flew past stand-in keeper Carl Woodhouse.

The result was in the balance untuil Goodwick sealed the win in the 88th minute when Rhys Jones’ shot rebounded off the underside of the bar to substitute Nathan Greene to slot home to take his side seven points clear of Hakin.

Fifth place Pennar Robins produced a clinical performance to run out 4-1 winners at eighth placed Merlins Bridge at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village.

Jamie Wilkes gave the visitors the lead on 16 minutes with a stunning lob over home keeper James Dickson but the Wizards struck back on the stroke of half time, Josh Thomas with a low drive after a surging run.

There was still time for Ben Adams to volley the Robins back into the lead at the far post before the break.

Adams pounced on a defensive mix up to make it 3-1 on 67 minutes and Wilkes also bagged his brace in the closing stages after being put clear by Liam Williams.

Kilgetty also scored four goals on their trip to Herbrandston to go six points clear of the relegation zone.

Skipper Richard Cope broke the deadlock just before the half hour and Lloyd Hughes gave them a two-goal cushion going into the break.

Cope netted his second and Jordan Gorman got on the scoresheet in the second half.
