GOODWICK United took a massive step towards claiming the Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division One title with a 4-1 win against rival Hakin United, who now trail the leaders by four points.

Will Howarth gave the hosts an early lead with a well-taken strike after good work by Rhys Dalling, who also set up his side’s second goal after finding Rhys Jones in space to score.

The provider turned scorer on 36 minutes with an exquisite 30-yard lob over Hakin keeper Gareth Fawcett.

The visitors pulled one back through Jack Britton before the break.

It was a much closer affair after the turnaround, Howarth netting a fourth on 68 minutes to sink Hakin.

Third placed Clarbeston Road were beaten 2-0 by Pennar Robins, Jamie Wilkes and Conner Willis with a goal in each half for the visitors.

Substitute Scott Ferney scored the winning goal for Tenby eight minutes after coming off the bench on the hour mark.

Visitors Milford United had given the fourth-placed Seasiders a real game at The Clicketts but they dropped down to second from bottom following this defeat.

Merlins Bridge were the biggest winners of the day running out 11-1 winners at the Pembrokeshire Sports Village against a battling Herbrandston team.

Centre back Mike Preddy led the way for the Wizards with four goals alongside a hat-trick by Jason Griffiths. Tomos Gwilliam bagged a brace with Dai Davies and Nathan Evans also on the scoresheet.

Matthew Jones netted a consolation for Herbrandston.

Nathan Thomas and Aaron Hallam secured a comeback win for St Ishmaels at Carew who had taken an early lead through Shaun Whitfield whilst Monkton Swifts won by the same scoreline against visitors Kilgetty, Dylan Davies with the winner after Kyle Marsh had cancelled out Gareth Finnegan’ early lead take for the hosts.
