A handsome four-figure sponsorship deal has been secured by Tenby AFC - thanks to the generosity of Chevron Texaco whose contribution has been equalled by Sportsmatch.

The sponsorship will benefit all sections of the thriving club, enabling essential equipment for every aspect of training, playing and development to be provided.

Among this is a smart new kit for the seniors, whose first team is currently heading Division One of the James Williams Pembrokeshire League, while the club's many footballers of the future will also be well provided for as they train and play.

Tenby AFC is now able to field over 20 teams, starting with an Under 6 side; three Under 7s, two Under 8s, two Under 9s, two Under 10s, Under 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s and 16s; two seniors and a ladies side, not forgetting three girls Under 12 teams and two Under 14s.

So it looks like being a happy new year for the club, which is rightly proud of its strong emphasis on junior development to encourage players through the ranks.

A number of Tenby's senior players first kicked a match football with the club's junior teams - notably player/assistant manager Deryn Brace, who played professionally for Wrexham for several years and whose partnership with manager Steve Maytum has proved an inspiration to the first team in their current campaign.

The club is particularly grateful to committee member Dene Hurlow and senior player Luke Lawrence for their work in securing the sponsorship.
