A PEMBROKE Dock councillor has drawn attention to the number of supermarket trolleys abandoned around the town.
Councillor George noted Tesco trolleys on the walkway off Ferry Lane, on the railway land and two on the pavement. She went to Tesco to speak to them about it.
Councillors discussed the ongoing problem at their January meeting. Other Tesco supermarkets have a coin system that helps to prevent the problem, they observed. The Deputy Town Clerk confirmed that the Town Council has contacted Tesco head office on several occasions.
During a walkabout on February 20, the Tenby Observer identified 20 trolleys, variously branded, and one basket.
Abandoned shopping trolleys can be considered fly tipping if they contain fly-tipped items or are causing a hazard.
