A UNIQUE triathlon event will be hosted in Pembrokeshire in May, combining paddle boarding, cycling and trail running.

Launched in 2014, SUPBIKERUN, is a series of events are staged right across the UK in stunning lakeside venues including South Wales, Dorset, Devon, and The Lake District.

The Wales event will be held over two days at Llys y Frân on 17-18 May.

Established in 2014 by Sam Pauc, the current world record holder for kite surfing across the English Channel, it is the only triathlon event in Europe which combines the three disciplines.

It caters to adventure enthusiasts and fitness lovers who seek unique ways to challenge themselves in a supportive, community-driven environment, with over 300 participants at each event.

The cycling element has expanded to include road, gravel and mountain bike routes at each event.

Extreme sports enthusiast Sam Pauc beat Richard Branson’s son, also called Sam, to the English Channel kite surfing record, back in 2012.

Sam Branson completed the 30-mile crossing from Wimereux in northern France to Dymchurch in Kent in two hours, 18 minutes and 40 seconds.

Pauc beat the record a week later, shaving off 27 minutes from Branson’s time and setting a new world record of one hour 51 minutes and 34 seconds, a record that still stands today.

After celebrating, Sam was invited by his sponsors to Cowes Regatta Week and asked to race against the Hugo Boss Yacht and two Olympian yachtsmen, Paul Goodison and Nick Dempsey on his kite surf. Unfortunately, there was no wind on the day of the race and Sam was involved in an accident with his pick-up boat, dislocating his shoulder and having to undergo months of rehab.

His rehabilitation team suggested he try paddle boarding to strengthen up his shoulder and that’s where the idea for SUPBIKERUN emerged.
