Well done to everyone who took part in the Long Course Weekend and all the local athletes competing, especially seventeen-year-old Archie Dilks of the Tenby Penguins Open water swim club who took the Male Junior Long Course Weekend title.
Coming into the third day, Archie who turns 18 in a couple of weeks, was 20 seconds behind German athlete Lukas Koehler, knowing that he had to beat him in the 10k to claim victory.
Archie managed to put 1 min 30secs in to become champ. He is being trained by local pro Oli Simon and planning to compete in the Ironman Wales event in September. He’s definitely one to watch out for and surely will be making waves in the triathlon world in the years to come.
A spokesperson for the event said: “What an amazing time we’ve had this weekend, and well done to all of our amazing athletes that participated and a huge thank you to everyone who came along to watch and cheer these crazy people on! A huge thanks to our amazing sponsors and of course the team crew behind it all that make it extra special!”
