Activity Wales Events is pleased to announce a new partnership with Saundersfoot Harbour to host The Wales Swim Run event in the seaside village for the next 3 years.

This defining partnership further cements the ambitions of the organisers and hosts to market Saundersfoot and Pembrokeshire to a new global audience in a similar way to the Long Course Weekend event held in Tenby each year.

New CEO of Saundersfoot Harbour, Nicola Gandy said: “We are thrilled to be hosting the Wales Swim Run for the next 3 years, which will provide a global opportunity to showcase Saundersfoot harbour and the surrounding coastline.”

The Wales Swim Run is now established as one of the premier races on the planet, attracting over 200 athletes from 20 different countries.

There are individual and pairs challenges across both sprint and long distances taking in the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and award-winning blue flag bays.

Starting on the cliff tops above Freshwater East, the race will move east taking in Manorbier, Lydstep, Tenby and end in Amroth.

In total, the event is just over 24 Kilometers of running and 7 Kilometers of swimming.

Now in its 4th edition the sporting event has been attracting new fans for many years. None more so than the world leaders Envol.

Winner of the first edition and CEO of Envol, Nicholas Ramires recently announced that Wales had been awarded Official Global Status as one of 8 qualifying races in the Envol Global Series.

The Envol World Series course covers 16 miles of running and 6 miles of swimming in a pairs format with strict rules in place to ensure athletes adhere to the world championships level of competition.

The event is as much an experience as it is a race, with all athletes attending the welcome dinner and race briefing on the Friday evening.

Team Envol will also be on hand to provide a talk on best practises and hints and tips to improve times.

Matthew Evans, CEO of Activity Wales Events said: “We are delighted to see how the Swim Run here in Wales is developing.

“The partnership with Envol and other races will allow us to share working practices with some of the best in the World, develop free taster sessions for the local community and also show off this incredible part of the Pembrokeshire Coastline to the rest of the World.

“Bringing the finish line to the Harbour decking area will allow us to show off the Harbour, its offerings and work closely with the local businesses to offer a real Pembrokeshire experience.”

The event will see athletes arriving from July 11, with the race taking place on July 13.
