NARBERTH Athletic put up a gritty fight against a strong Tenby outfit in the semi final of the Pembrokeshire KO Cup but fell short against their Division 2 West hosts who ran out 32-5 winners.
It was clear from the outset that they were going to have a tough night under the Heywood Lane floodlights on Friday evening with Tenby dominant up front and well drilled behind the scrum.
Tenby opened the scoring when left-winger Geraint Powell went over in the corner, with No 10 Lloyd Thomas adding the conversion.
Lloyd Thomas put Tom Lewis over for an unconverted try on 20 minutes before Narberth hit back with a good try by captain Will Davies.
The hosts finished the half with a 22-5 lead after being awarded a penalty try when Shane Rossiter took out Geraint Powell and Thomas kicked a penalty.
Narberth battled throughout the second half and never gave up but Tenby ran out convincing victory, much to the delight of the large home crowd.
Thomas added to their tally with a long-range penalty before Gwion Jones ran on to scrum half Cam Broadhurst’s neat chip into space to ground a try again converted by Thomas.
Cam was one of three Broadhurst borthers who came off the bench for The Seasiders, joined by Jack and Fletcher.
