PEMBROKE RFC First XV were not in action last Saturday due to a league bye weekend.

The squad are due to travel to Fall Bay (on the Gower) this coming Saturday to play in round one of the WRU National Division 4 Cup competition, KO 2.30pm; any supporters wanting to travel on the team coach should contact the club in advance.

The Panthers were also not in action last weekend, but they are due to play Tondu away in a league match this coming Sunday, KO 2.30pm.

The Youth were at home last Saturday to an experienced and mature Haverfordwest squad.

Conditions were perfect for running rugby on a marvellous surface.

The visitors stamped their authority on the game from the outset, scoring an excellent opening try after five minutes, which was very ably converted from the touchline by their No 10.

Pembroke put up a spirited defence, but the visitors proved a cut above, producing some very well constructed phases of play, marvellous interplay and handling between forwards and backs, and excellent running from their speedy back three.

The home side did make inroads on occasions but were met with determined defence and their only reward was a single penalty, kicked by Zac Shaw.

The hard work Haverfordwest put in in the first half brought them a very well deserved lead by 3-47 at the break and minutes into the second half they scored another converted try, which brought the encounter to a halt, because of the points difference.

Despite this heavy loss, Pembroke’s coaches reflected on a number of positives from their players’ performance and both they and the players realise there are big improvements required as the season progresses.

The Youth have been drawn to play Llangwm at home on November 2nd in the Pembs Youth KO Cup competition.

Some of the Junior age groups were in action last weekend, with the U10s winning two from three in their Crymych festival, the U13s winning at home to Fishguard, the U7s winning all four games at a Scarlets tournament.

The directors and management committee and all at the club thank Woodenbale for their ongoing commitment and support as their main sponsor again this season; whilst also sending out a very sincere thank you to all other sponsors, who give so generously to facilitate and support teams from junior to seniors and the general maintenance of all facilities.

The club has announced the Winter Quiz night dates, these will be November 29, January 24 and February 28.

Anyone is welcome to come along and there is the usual raffle and hospitality laid on for teams of 4-6.
