PEMBROKE First XV are due to play their two remaining league fixtures away to St Davids on April 5 and away to Neyland April 12, writes Darrell Willington.
Presently the squad sit second in the league table, but there are four teams below them that have games in hand.
So they will be watching all of these with great interest, as all have a chance of grasping the second promotion spot alongside Neyland, who look sure to be promoted after a very good season, which sees them in the semi-final of the WRU Div 4 Cup.
The St Davids match sees the club hoping to retake the Willington Slate held by the Saints at present, a trophy played for in memory of ex-player Gareth Willington and his son Daniel; on the day funds will be raised as usual for the St Davids Lifeboat and Fisherman’s Mission.

The Panthers travelled to Tumble to take on their women’s squad, who are known as Piod Pinc.
In past seasons both teams had claimed wins, but on this occasion, after a good run of form the Panthers were confident that they could claim a win and cement their place as joint top of the WRU West Wales League table.
The squad travelled with reduced numbers due to injuries and work commitments, but Piod were in the same position.
The match saw both sides play some very entertaining rugby, moving the ball around.
Whilst both packs fought hard to provide possession and gain territory, the visitors generally achieved territorial advantage, which they turned into points more regularly than Piod.
The visitors kept a firm grip on the game in the second half, despite some strong Piod surges and eventually ran out worthy winners by 11-30.
The Panthers have two matches left to try to overtake the Hawks if they want to top their league table.
The U13 and U14 squads were both involved in Cup semi-final battles at the weekend.
The U 14s lost narrowly away in Aberystwyth, whilst the U13s convincingly beat Fishguard at home to reach their May final to the delight of the large crowd watching the game.
The U8/9 also played and performed well in their respective games.
Everyone at the club was delighted to hear that Tenby Sharks’ very talented 16-year-old player Breannagh Davidson, who started her rugby journey with the Pembroke junior squads before moving at 13 to play age grade girls rugby at the Sharks, has been selected for the Welsh U18s squad to travel to Italy to play in the upcoming Six Nations, which is a huge achievement at her age. We all wish her and the squad every success.
Congratulations to the following 150 club draw winners for February, £100 Steve & Sarah Jackson, £75 Peter Smith, £50 Ian Martin. There are still places available anyone interested should see Mary James.
Members have recently seen the completion of one major project inside the clubhouse and a second is due to start this week, which will see the installation of solar panels and batteries using recently secured grant funding.
