PEMBROKE DOCK QUINS 51 pts. PENYGROES 16

The Quins at last got back to winning ways with a resounding display against mid-table Penygroes despite being without two key forwards, Alex Pierce and Mark Van Rhyn.

It was the visitors who started the brighter and they duly took the lead after just five minutes with a well-struck penalty from outside-half Chris Powell.

Five minutes later, the visitors increased their advantage with a fine try from scrum-half Carwyn Richards in the corner. Chris Powell missed the conversion.

Things were looking ominous for the Quins at this stage as it seemed as if the bad run they had been on was going to continue. They need not have worried, as flanker Mike Davies made a huge amount of ground with a powerful run before offloading to left winger Sam Richards, who ran in from 15 yards to score in the corner. Lewis Davies missed the conversion, landing just short.

The Quins now were getting on top and it was not long before they crossed the whitewash again. This time, after outstanding work by centre Jack Price, fullback Paul Jonkers sped in at the corner for his ninth try of the season. Lewis Davies again missed the conversion in the blustery conditions.

The Quins' lead, however, was not to last long, Chris Powell restoring the visitors' advantage with another well-struck penalty to give them the narrowest of leads at 11-10.

Jack Price soon showed what an outstanding talent he is with a brilliant individual first try for the club and Lewis Davies added the extras to push the Quins 17-11 in front.

But once again the visitors hit back, this time with an unconverted try by flanker Matthew Evans to haul his side to within a point of the Quins.

The Quins had the last say of the half when replacement Carl Williams crossed for an unconverted try to grab his side a bonus point.

The second half totally belonged to the Quins. It was not long before prop Dai Moseley got his first try for the side with a fine 25-yard run, showing no mean turn of pace to touchdown one handed and virtually seal the game for the Quins. Lewis Davies missed the conversion.

With the Quins now totally dominating, Sam Richards was next on the scoresheet with his second try, converted by Lewis Davies.

With the score now 34-16 to the good, it was only a matter of how many more tries the Quins would score, and they duly obliged with three more. First Adam Cawley swallow-dived over for his eighth five-pointer of the season, then Jack Price scored another brilliant solo try, which went unconverted, and the scoring was ended when Lewis Davies touched down under the posts for a try which he converted himself to give him 95 points for the season. And with just one game left at home to New Dock Stars, let's hope he can make the century for this campaign.
