The popular Tenby 10k run returns this weekend.
Back at the start of 2023, organisers made a u-turn on scrapping the event, after it had been announced that it was with ‘great sadness’ they would no longer be hosting the race at the seaside town which normally takes place in July - either this year, or in any subsequent years.
“It has become increasingly difficult and costly to organise this event, particularly in Tenby which has seen the number of events held in the town grow since the Tenby 10k first started some 20 years ago,” stated the organisers on social media.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone would supported the event over its long history, from those who took part, to those who gave their support out on the route as well as the numerous volunteers who help out on the day.
“We know many of you will be extremely disappointed with this announcement, but we hope you can understand our reasons.
“We wish you all the best for 2023 and I’m sure we'll see some of you out on the roads.”
Now though, the race which sees hundreds take part, and starts and finishes in the centre of Tenby, in Tudor Square - will return, after discussions between previous organisers and Tenby Town Council.
“We are pleased to announce that the Tenby 10k, will go ahead in 2023,” it was announced earlier this year.
“We look forward to seeing you all at this historic 10k event.”
Run Afan Forest has now taken over all races from Tough Runner UK and all events will proceed as normal.
The event will kick-off at 10 am on Sunday, October 29.
