TENBY Sailing Club hosted the National Merlin Rocket Championships last week.

Christian Birrell and Sam Brearly from Parkstone YC were proud winners after nine races were sailed between Sunday and Friday providing thrills and spills for 65 crews.

Overall 2nd was Stuart Bithell and Tom Pygall, Parkstone YC ahead of Ollie Davis and Ollie Meadowcroft, from South Staffordshire SC.

Race officer Nigel Denchfield was well supported by Tenby Sailing Club members and a very busy safety crew.

Evening entertainment in the clubhouse was much appreciated by everyone and the 45 volunteers were thanked.

During the same week, Lasers were holding their National Championships in Weymouth.

Tenby juniors Nina Marsh and Amelia Nuttall finished 17th and 21st in the ILCA 4 Class, competing in 11 races with 77 contenders.

Club racing continued on Friday evening with Redwings: 1, R 241, Julian and Dan; 2, R 190, Alex and Matt; 3, R 228, Bill and Peter.

On Saturday afternoon, eight boats sailed two races.
