THE Trefloyne Juniors have had many happy weeks of coaching in the dry on the floodlit range over the winter.
But the Academy youngsters were champing at the bit to get out onto the course at the start of a new season.
That course experience is essential for them to become real golfers, giving them the chance to apply the skills developed on the practice areas, on real fairways and greens.
So on Wednesday, April 3rd the season started with a bang with Trefloyne's first adult & junior Texas Scramble – teams of two with the 7+ year olds playing 9 holes and the under 7s playing 5.
Winners 7-16s category: 1, Kayla Arthur playing with her dad Simon; 2, Jacob Cunningham and his father Adam; 3, William Morgan accompanied by Eifion Price.
Under 7s: 1, Harper Cook with her grandfather Jim Cook; 2, Rory Henshaw with Meurig Evans; 3, Lawri Richards and dad, Dean.
Trefloyne Juniors are now in the Wales Golf Sixes Competition, alongside Milford Haven and Haverfordwest. It's a six-hole Texas Scramble.
The Trefloyne Junior Open is held on 31 May. It’s a Dyfed Order of Merit competition open to all juniors under 18 on January 1st 2024, who have a handicap. For details contact [email protected]
