TENBY Golf Club Ladies Section competed in their annual Saltheim Cup on Sunday, 28 July.
The event was formed in 2013 by Annette Flower and Trevayne Keohane as a fun competition and its name derived from the Solheim Cup, which was played that year, and The Salterns.
Annette was appointed USA captain and Fair Ball her European counterpart, and both bought shirts for their team with Trevayne buying the trophy.
When Annette left the club a couple of years ago Trevayne took over her skipper’s role.
This year’s event was delayed due to a clash of dates but a slot was found in July with plenty of new lady members eager to compete and they were allocated to teams.
After an early coffee the captains divulged their chosen pairings and players were given a memento for their team.
Each team had seven pairs ready to take on the 4 ball batter ball format and the scores were calculated over a Sunday roast dinner at the clubhouse.
The outcome was a “well fought for half!”, therefore previous winners USA retained the trophy.
Trevayne thanked everyone for entering the competition especially Fair on sorting the handicaps and writing the cards, the catering staff for a lovely meal, the green staff for the wonderful condition of the course - with exception of the dreaded rough!
Next year because of the growing number of new ladies Fair and Trevayne have decided that as the competition had been running for 11 years they should have a complete redraw for teams.
