Kilgetty AFC Women 18 Camrose AFC Women 0

AFTER a generous donation from Saundersfoot Rotary Club, Kilgetty AFC Women stepped out in style wearing their new kit, in their first game of the year against Camrose AFC Women on Sunday.

With growing squad numbers, the team's former kit no longer met player’s needs. Kilgetty approached Saundersfoot Rotary for support, and were thrilled when they agreed to sponsor a new kit.

The club posted: "We at Kilgetty AFC can't thank Saundersfoot Rotary enough.

“Our new kit is fantastic. We all feel so much more comfortable, having the correct sizes and love the new design.

“It made us set off the game on a positive note."

Five members of Saundersfoot Rotary presented the kit to Kilgetty AFC Women on Sunday but their support won't end there.

Roy Patel of Saundersfoot Rotary said: "We at Saundersfoot Rotary are so pleased to present this kit to Kilgetty AFC Women, but we want to go beyond this.

“We are here to support Kilgetty AFC Women as they progress, we hope to promote their efforts to help showcase women's football and encourage others to take part.

“We'd love to see participation in women's game grow locally and beyond, and we are keen to play an active role in promoting Kilgetty AFC and women's football."

The league game took place at Pembroke 3G pitch against Camrose AFC Women.

Kilgetty started strong, scoring four goals in the first 25 minutes, with Erin Griffiths opening after only three minutes.

Bryony Davies netted her first goal in 11-a-side football, quickly followed by goals from Becky Bonser and Sam Richards.

Kilgetty pushed forward scoring a further four taking the team to 8-0 at half time.

Kilgetty came out strong again in the second half, seeing a further 10 goals, including two from captain Maisie Sherratt, and further goals by Becky Bonser and Sam Richards.

Camrose showed real class and determination throughout the game, with some good play.

Kilgetty selected Camrose number 12, Mollie Flanagan, as player of the match for some fantastic passes and great football.

The game was a fine example of women's football with hard work, fair play and a great team spirit on both sides.
