THE second Sunday of Tenby Sailing Club’s October’s frostbite series was off to an early start for a mixed fleet including an Osprey, Redwing, Scorpion, Laser and RS Tera.
The first race saw defiant and changeable wind for a starboard triangle which allowed competitors to exploit incoming gusts.
Dave Griffiths and Maurice Clark seized victory in the Osprey.
Peter Rose and Sharon Thompson narrowly took second place with Ben Roberts in the single-handed Laser 20 seconds behind.
Julian Cumptsy and Howard Yeates finished in 4th place, with the Tera retiring due to a lack of wind.
The wind had settled at a steady south easterly in time for the second race, igniting a fiercely contested start line.
Despite the now consistent wind direction, the order of results was the same as the first race: Dave and Maurice (first); Peter and Sharon (second); Ben Roberts (third); and Julian and Howard (fourth).
The next race is scheduled for Sunday, 20 October. Thanks go to Lewis James and Lily Thompson for running the races in tricky shifting winds and a confused choppy sea.
Clubhouse: The charity wuiz season will start again on Saturday, October 26th at 8pm with all entry fees going to the RNLI. The annual sailing club dinner dance is on November 22nd at the Giltar Hotel, followed closely by the AGM on the 23rd.
