WITH only 30 seconds separating first and second , Osprey 1380, sailed by Robin Wood and Matt Goldwait finished ahead of Laser 175386 sailed by Julian Cumpsty at Tenby Sailing Club’s latest dinghy racea.

Steve Leach was third and Howard Yates fourth, both in lasers.

The National Merlin Rocket Championships attracted 71 entries.

It was no mean feat that the TSC volunteers managed to receive so successfully all the visitors, place the dinghies, and remove all the trailers with very limited space in the harbour to manoeuvre and limited access during pedestrianisation.

Sixty five boats made it to the start line on Sunday.

Two races were sailed in a SE 3/4 breeze and uncomfortable lop on the water.

The racing culminates on Friday with a total of 11 races.

Tenby Sailing Club commodore Blake Shaw welcomed the competitors at the Commodore’s Reception on Saturday evening following a comprehensive briefing by principle race officer Nigel Drenchfield.

Racing was completed by 3.30pm on Sunday, giving crews time to put their boats away and then join in with the many other visitors as the first Summer Spectacular got underway in the harbour.
