"This is a very worrying time for farmers in Preseli Pembrokeshire, but lessons do seem to have been learned from the last foot and mouth outbreak," said local AM Paul Davies following news of a foot and mouth outbreak in Surrey. "It is a pity that the local agricultural shows will be affected by the movement ban on livestock, but it is important that bio-security comes first and foremost. Tourism was hit very hard last time, so we want to reassure people that Pembrokeshire is still open for business." Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns added: "We all remember how devastating the last outbreak of foot and mouth disease was, but hopefully this time it has been contained in time. However, we must not be complacent about this terrible disease and livestock farmers will be on tenterhooks until we get the all clear."
