Yellow weather warnings for heavy rain and strong winds issued for parts of Wales on January 1st have seen two Pembrokeshire New Year’s Day charity swims scrapped.

Both the Angle New Year's Day Dip and the St Davids New Year's Day Swim have been called off due to safety concerns for those participating. However, the Angle swim which raises funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation has been rearranged for Saturday, February 1.

A spokesperson for the Angle event stated: “Due to a Yellow Weather Warning, and for the safety of our participants, volunteers, and staff who are our top priority, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the Paul Sartori Foundation, Angle New Year’s Day Dip to Saturday, 1st February 2025.

“The exact time will be confirmed soon.

A huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers and staff who were ready to support the event on Wednesday, we truly appreciate your dedication.

“To our incredible participants and those who have already raised sponsorships; you are the heart of this challenge, and we hope you can join us on February 1st.

“If you couldn’t attend due to New Year’s Day commitments, this is your chance to take part in the fun, raise much-needed funds for our Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service, and earn your Medal of Bravery.

“We look forward to seeing you for a safe and exhilarating dip in February. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

The St Davids swim due to take place at Whitesands has been cancelled completely due to the weather forecast.

A spokesperson for organisers St Davids Penknife Club said: “Sadly we are cancelling the event for safety reasons given the weather forecast.

“The quiz will still be going ahead in the Farmers Arms.

“Our main objective will be to raise money for as many local causes as we can. We are looking still to raise money so any donations would be greatly appreciated.
