Wards across Pembrokeshire are preparing for the switch-over to 20mph speed limits this year.
County Councillor Alistair Cameron recently reported to Kilgetty Begelly Community Council that the Welsh Government will be implementing a 20 mph speed limit in September for all areas where there is a current 30 mph limit, unless an exemption is agreed.
In practice, this means that all of the urban areas of Kilgetty, Begelly and Reynalton will be covered by the 20 mph limit.
Pembrokeshire County Council is applying for Welsh Government funding for traffic calming measures along the A478 in Begelly in order to help implement the 20 mph limit and improve the pavement.
“This is also needed to improve safety at the junctions with Broom Lane (leading to Thomas Chapel), Parsonage Lane and Fir Grove. There will need to be full consultation with local residents before any traffic calming is introduced,” explained Cllr Cameron.
“In the meantime, in order to slow down traffic, the Council have advised that they will endeavour to install two vehicle activated speed signs along the A478 in Begelly by the end of March.”
