Over the last month, Clunderwen Young Farmers have been very busy preparing for the annual dancing competition. This year the theme was cheerleading!
On February 22, the county round was held at the Pavilion in Haverfordwest. Clunderwen YFC performed brilliantly against the other teams from around Pembrokeshire and at the end of the night was victorious and finished in first position, meaning they gained a place in the National Finals competition.
With some amendments to the rules, Clunderwen had to include two male dancers in the routine for the National Finals. Alastair Coates and Scott Robinson kindly agreed and, with some very hard training and dedication by all the team members, they were ready to go to the finals in Builth Wells on April 7.
Teams from all over Wales qualified for the event and the standard was extremely high. However, Clunderwen again performed superbly and wowed the judges and audience with their enthusiastic dancing, clean acrobatic skills and daredevil stunts.
At the end of the day the top three teams were announced. Clunderwen were awarded the winning trophy and declared the best YFC team in Wales! Of course, all the members and supporters were delighted and celebrated later on that night in true farmer style!
Clunderwen Cheerleaders are now in preparation for the British Finals, where they will be representing Wales in Blackpool on May 5. This achievement is huge for the club and is testament to the commitment and teamwork that all members have shown over the last two months. Keep up the hard work and good luck in the British finals!
