Tenby Town Council has co-opted a new member at this month’s meeting (February 11) to represent the seaside town’s North ward.
The position became vacant following the recent resignation of Duncan Whitehurst.
“Six very strong candidates applied for the post and Dr Tara Carmody had the majority of votes on the evening,” said the town clerk.
“Tara attended Ysgol Greenhill and recently moved back to her family home during lockdown. Already involved with many volunteer organisations in the town, Tara works as a learning support manager at The University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
“She is particularly passionate about accessibility, creating opportunity, upskilling and community building,” added the clerk, who said that the other candidates considered for the role, wished not to be named publicly.
