UNDER 9s

Recently, Tenby took on Fishguard at the Clicketts ground and came away with a convincing 6-1 victory. Goals came from Harry Cook, Finn Bowie, Harrison Duckett and a Fishguard own goal.

Fletcher Dyer, who switched from goalkeeper to centre forward with great ease, grabbed goal number five, and Herbie Haggar, who had an excellent game in midfield showing great skill on the ball, scored the final goal.

Last Saturday, the Under 9s took on the toughest team in their age group, Hakin United. A glorious sunny morning ensured a capacity crowd was there to enjoy an extremely fast game with end to end football. Both teams passed the ball around with great maturity for an Under 9s contest.

Tenby held on to secure a 2-1 victory against the unbeaten Hakin side, with goals coming from Harry Cook and Lewis Sarrionandia, who both took their opportunities very well.

The club would like to thank the sponsors this year who have helped the Under 9s look the part. Special thanks to Sean Bowie of DVS - kit sponsor, Mark Duckett, Almak Builders, for kit bags, and John Proctor, of Prowaste, for training jackets.

Lamphey u13s 2 Tenby u13s 1

Tenby took an early lead through Aaron James whose low shot found the corner of the net. This shook Lamphey who had put the Tenby defence under pressure, with one breakaway bringing a brilliant blocking save from Lewis Roberts.

Tenby had further chances and were unlucky when a shot from James Bridges came back from the home crossbar.

Both teams counter-attacked quickly, but with Jerome Mansbridge keeping a tight control on Corey Lowndes, Tenby missed the opportunity to capitalise on their first half efforts.

Just before half-time, Lamphey broke away and for once got behind a defiant Tenby defence to slide the ball into an empty net to make the score 1-1.

The second half saw Lamphey going for a win, but Tenby defended well, although when they broke away they could not maintain midfield control for long enough to force an error in the home penalty area.

Aaron James and Ellis Morgan chased hopefully and James Bridges tried hard to set up a hard shot, but without success, and as the game wore on, Lamphey had more possession.

Following a free-kick, Lamphey broke though to take a late lead at 2-1, and, although Tenby bravely forced a corner which could have produced an equaliser, they were given insufficient time to salvage a point.

Tenby squad: Lewis Roberts, Jacob Dent, Jerome Mansbridge, Marcus Read, Nathan Wilson, Luke Conbeer, George Wilkins, Richard Tebbutt, James Bridges, Aaron James, Ellis Morgan, Brandon Taylor-Monaghan.
