TENBY U12s 3 CAMROSE U12s 4 The Manorbier Stores and Post Office sponsored Tenby U12s side took on Camrose in a vital top-of- the-table clash on Saturday morning. Although the pitch was heavy underfoot, spirits were high and Tenby started well, dominating from the kick-off as they camped out in the visitors' goal area and posed problems to a solid Camrose defence. But a breakaway, against the run of the play, saw the ball sail high into Tenby's net, well out of Scott's reach. Again Tenby picked up the pace, D'Arcy put a ball through to Jack, who found Elliot and the ball was in the back of the Camrose net. Lifted by the half-time talk and Laurie's Jaffa cakes, Tenby again dominated from the kick-off and two quick goals from Dan and Elliot, assists from Hugo, saw them take a deserved lead. After that, their fluent play was disrupted by some dubious offside decisions and, as they were forced back into their own half, they saw their lead whittled away under some fierce pressure from Camrose. Two quick goals and the score was level and, sadly, a final effort from Camrose saw them gain three vital points. Nevertheless, Tenby can hold their heads up high. Faced by some contentious decisions, it was never going to be their day, but they did themselves proud by not letting their standards drop. Massive thanks to coach Simon (hope you won your golf at least!), referee Colin, linesman Ted, our massive crowd of supporters - what a turnout - our sponsors and, importantly, to our players. Squad: Scott Cowan, Corey Morris, Tom Grover, George McBeth, Hugo Wellum, Toby Rossiter, Jack Murphy, Sam Butler, D'Arcy Escott, Adam Conbeer, Elliot Goldsmith, Daniel Fairlie, Cheyne Lloyd. ST. CLEARS 6 TENBY U10s B 1
Tenby made the long trip up to fellow rivals, St. Clears, on a wet and windy Saturday morning. It was clear from the start, though, that Tenby would have to battle hard to contain an in-form St. Clears side that attacked at every opportunity. Will Davies was called upon early and produced a fine catch by diving quickly down to his right to collect a long range St. Clears volley. However, it was not long before Will was called upon again and was on hand to save well, down to his right, but was so unlucky not to hold onto the slippery shot which was fired back in from the rebound to give St. Clears a 1-0 lead. It was from a very similar move that St. Clears managed to score again, pushing their lead to 2-0 in quick succession. Tenby found their balance and started to create chances - particularly in the midfield. Henrik Jaakola was a real powerhouse, running, teasing the St. Clears defence at every given opportunity and Joseph Criddle displayed some clever passing -showing another side to his improving game. St. Clears were quick to break and to test the Tenby defence. Jake Davies read the move well - his improved development, a clear factor when his well-timed tackle denied the hosts a scoring chance. St. Clears pressed forward again in a move where a goal looked a formality if it wasn't for Daniel Tiesing, who seemed to appear out of nowhere with an awesome goalmouth clearance that left the Saints wondering what they needed to do to score. Joel Downs calmly pulled the ball away and passed onto Dylan Price who made a surging run forward; passing deep over to the left with a pin-point, accurate cross onto Luke Hartland, whose drive was just deflected for a Tenby corner. However, Tenby quickly found themselves on the back-foot when St. Clears pushed their lead from 2-0 to 4-0 with some fine attacking play. Tenby were not to be deterred. Luke Hartland tore down the left-hand side with pace and broke free of his marker, playing a great ball towards Joseph Criddle, whose shot just deflected. Luke Hartland collected the loose ball and cleverly picked out Henrik Jaakola in space. Henrik glanced up and fired in a stunning 20-foot drive, which gave the St. Clears 'keeper absolutely no chance. As the second half unfolded, St. Clears tested the Tenby defence again. Joel Downs was called upon to make a series of key tackles in what the defender made look a mere formality. Jake Davies provided some good supporting play with a great sliding tackle to steal the ball from the hosts and retain possession deep in the Tenby half. Tenby attacked again, with Luke Hartland starting off a great flowing team move by passing on to Henrik Jaakola. The midfielder attacked the St. Clears defence and played a great ball on to Joseph Criddle, who in turn showed great vision by picking out Dylan Price, who was just denied after a frantic goalmouth scramble. As the game came to a close, St. Clears came away 6-1 winners, but all credit to Tenby, who made the hosts battle all the way for a result that was so far from a formality. Many thanks to Park Road Fish and Chips, the Tenby Under 10s kit sponsors, and to all the parents for their positive support and encouragement.
Solva u14s 0 tenby u14s 15
The Willow Carpentry sponsored Tenby Under 14s were expected to win this match, but unfortunately for Solva, it was always going to be the case of how many goals they would score. With such a big total, the score was only five-nil at half-time, but should have been double, with Tenby missing as many easy chances. Ashley Smith got two, with Jordan Richards, Will Thomas and Alex Heesom firing in the others. Although the second half saw the Seasiders take complete control, they again missed a lot of easy chances and this could be crucial if the league is decided on goal difference at the end of the season. Two more goals from Smith, a hat-trick from Richards and single efforts from Thomas, Curtis Hurlow, Greg Lees-Griffiths, Robert Fairlie and Dan Edwards completed the rout. Tenby side: J. Roberts, G. Lees-Griffiths, C. Hurlow, P. Elliott, D. Edwards, P. Horsley, A. Roberts, J. Richards, A. Smith, W. Thomas, A. Heesom, G. Warlow, R. Fairlie, D. Farmiloe.
TENBY AFC U9s 7 ST. CLEARS U9s 1
The Andrew Price sponsored U9s enjoyed a well- earned 7-1 win over St. Clears. A strong Tenby side took control early on and with Jack and Billy working the midfield and George and Adam making telling runs into the St. Clears box, it was not long before Tenby opened their account. It was a shot from Billy which the 'keeper got to, but could not keep out of the net. Minutes later, George hit another low drive, and this time the 'keeper had no chance, 2-0. Harry and Ben took turns to join Jordan and play most of the first half in the St. Clears half. Natty at this time was a spectator, but as always kept his eye on all that was going on in front of him. Just before the break, Adam scored a well-worked goal to make the score 3-0 at half-time. Playing his first game for the U9s was Richard, who fitted in well and enjoyed his role in midfield and was helped by all the boys early on, but soon made some telling passes and marked his opposite number well. Adam made the score 4-0 with an excellent header and minutes later Jack made it 5-0 after hard running from Billy, George and Ben, who ran the full length of the pitch to add his presence to the attack. Tenby had their tails up and were enjoying plenty of options, with George crossing quality balls from the right-hand side and Billy from the left. Goals were bound to follow and they did, the next being a great strike which flew into the top corner, the only problem being it came off Billy's and Adam's foot at the same time; they looked at each other, then both ran back celebrating. The referee, who was neutral!, gave the goal to Billy - 'good decision ref'. Then, from a big clearance, the St. Clears forwards made straight for Natty's goal and let fly with a right-footed shot that beat his outstretched hand to make the score 6-1. With the game almost over and to make amends, who scored the last goal and his hat-trick - Adam. A ball from Jordan saw Adam beat his marker, round the 'keeper and keep his cool to slot home his third and Tenby's seventh. A good win and a real team performance to be proud of. Thanks Mums and Dads and, of course, Tatty for being referee. Well done boys. Team: Natty John, Ben Howells, Harry Goforth, Billy Truman, Jordan Cornick, Jack Parkinson, Richard Dwyer, Adam Davidson and George Taylor.
Tenby Under 11s 4 Camrose Under 11s 0 Tees-R-us sponsored Tenby Under 11s swept away a well organised Camrose team to record an emphatic 4-0 victory. Camrose defended strongly in the early stages and county schools goalkeeper Lewis Roberts made some brave saves. Tenby were the more mobile team in attack, and pressure on the Camrose defence resulted in Jerome Mansbridge firing in an unstoppable shot from 10 yards out. Tenby were encouraged by some good work on the right by James Bridges, and after Roberts saved at full stretch, Jerome Mansbridge again was in the right place to give Tenby a valuable 2-0 half-time lead. The second half saw Tenby still in control and Roberts was in constant action in the Camrose goal, until Richard Tebbutt scored from close range to put his team 3-0 in front. Camrose attacked through the middle on a couple of occasions, but when Tenby broke away, Lloyd on the left was dangerous and his crosses were difficult to clear. When Jerome Mansbridge controlled a loose ball and fired in from 12 yards for Tenby for a fine goal, there was no way back for Camrose in what had been an outstanding Tenby team performance. Tenby squad: Ryan Hill, Nathan Wilson, Brandon Taylor-Monaghan, Lloyd Hughes, James Bridges, Jerome Mansbridge, Richard Tebbutt, Bradley Clement, Ryan Price, Robert Davies, Ellis Morgan, Jacob Dent. Man-of-the-match: Jerome Mansbridge. Thanks to Richard Bridges for refereeing.
