Saundersfoot Runners are organising a run/jog/walk from Wiseman’s Bridge Inn this month in support of the James Criddle Foundation which runs a foodbank from Tenby.

The food bank fundraiser will take place on Sunday February 23 at 10am.

The route is traffic free so is safe for all ages – and for dogs (though organisers do ask that dogs are kept on a lead please).

The event will be no longer than an hour. Hot drinks will be available to purchase at the Wiseman’s Bridge Inn afterwards.

The brainchild of Sarah Don, the Food Bank Run was initially just a run at Sarah’s club in Fareham (Hampshire, England) to collect donations for the local food bank. After hearing about the support the food bank gave to those in the area and the huge success of the run, Sarah and her club decided to make it an annual event.

However, COVID and personal circumstances had other ideas so it wasn’t until 2023 that the Food Bank Run became a national (and then international) event after Sarah set up a Facebook page to ask running groups across the UK and the world to support their own food banks.

Saundersfoot Runners responded to that call in 2023 and have been organising their own Food Bank Run in support of the local James Criddle Foundation ever since.

The Foundation run a food bank out of Tenby AFC’s club house in the Clicketts, Tenby. “The Food Bank Run has been a huge support to the Foundation” said Rachael Criddle, one of the founders.

“We are grateful to everyone who takes part, to Saundersfoot Runners for organising such an uplifting and positive event and to Wiseman’s Bridge Inn who generously allow us to use their premises.”

Please come along and join in the fun. Whether you run, jog or walk everyone is invited to take part.

Entry is free, though we do ask that everyone brings along a bag of food to donate. The items that are needed include dried food such as pasta and rice; tinned goods such as beans, soup, meat, fish, fruit and vegetables; tinned pies and sausages; jars or packs of cook-in sauces and toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoo and shower gel.
