The first Armed Forces Day in this country was held on Saturday and was an opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families, and from veterans to recruits.

It helped to raise awareness of their past and continuing contributions. Celebrations were held in villages, towns and cities across the country.
