The recent relocation of the RAF Memorial Window replica – which commemorates Pembroke Dock airmen lost in World War II – to the town’s Heritage Centre has been given the seal of approval by the Chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council.

Councillor Pat Davies was invited to view the window in its new home and to receive thanks from the Heritage Centre team to the County Council for displaying and caring for the window for the past 27 years. Its previous home was in the town’s Library.

Joining Councillor Davies was the Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services, Councillor Rhys Sinnett, and Cathy Butler, Site Coordinator of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Libraries.

Trustees also gave them a tour of the Centre, providing new insights into Pembroke Dock’s long and remarkable military and maritime story over 150 years, as well as viewing new displays and the ‘Millennium Falcon’ exhibition.

The window is a replica of the original now displayed at the RAF Museum in London. When dedicated in October 1945 the original window was the first in the UK to be placed on view at an RAF Station, just weeks after the war had ended.
