Members of Saundersfoot Rotary Club were delighted to join in with the voluntary beach clean around the seaside village on Mother’s Day.
The beach clean, organised by Sam of Ecoast, removed lots of rubbish and plastic from the beach; and such was the turn out that Julie Davies and some of the voluntary group were also able to clean up the village.
Saundersfoot Rotary would like to thank Ecoast, KWT, Saundersfoot Wombles and Surfers Against Sewage for their commitment to keeping our beaches clean.
The group was divided in two, with one team heading towards Monkstone Point, cleaning the coastline en route, while the other team cleaned the main beach, Coppet Hall, The Strand and Frances Lane.
For those of you who love stats collected were: Monkstone Beach = 12.25kg, plus 2 tyres, car seat and a big lump of metal, including 25 plastic bottles, 2 cans and 1 glass bottle. Back Beach, Main Beach, Coppet Hall, Strand and Frances Lane = 51.06 kg, including 6 plastic bottles, 5 cans, 5 glass beer bottles, 9 full dog poo bags and a dead mouse in a lemonade bottle!
Thanks also go to Cllr Chris Williams; Pembrokeshire County Council and the team at Saundersfoot Harbour.

Next beach cleans: Marros on Good Friday, April 18; Saundersfoot on April 27.
In post event refreshments at Saundersfoot Sailing Club, members of Saundersfoot Rotary were also able to provide information booklets and leaflets on Bipolar and other mental health conditions as part of Rotary’s aim to assist with the understanding and awareness of Bipolar on World Bipolar Day.
Thanks go to Mind and Bipolar UK for the provision of Bipolar materials and members of the community and holidaymakers who joined the event.
