A recent ‘call out’ in Saundersfoot for all interested people to attend a public meeting to explore the possibility to form a new ‘Community Events Committee’ for the seaside village, to fill the void of the disbanded ‘Chamber of Trade’ - has been hailed an overwhelming success.

There was standing room only at a recent meeting at The Regency Hall, with over 60 people attending, drawn from all facets of village life, including residents, charities, groups/clubs, businesses and the Community Council.

The evolution of the original Chamber was shared and an acknowledgement voiced that the many events organised throughout the year are now sadly missed.

Some of the events have been successfully re-established recently, due to the hard work of Suzannah Palmer at The Hean and her team. It was recognised that this is a huge task for a small number of people to undertake.

A new independent organising committee, drawing equally from all stakeholders in the village was agreed as key to all future success.

The joint Chairs were delighted that over 20 people have already come forward to be actively involved. But they know that there is a wide skill set of people in the Community, who may not have been aware of or were unable to attend the meeting.

The Expression of Interest form can be found here Saundersfoot Events Committee EOI to be returned by e-mail to: [email protected] by Sunday, April 6.

Paper copies are available from the reception team at The Regency Hall, Saundersfoot and returned to the Hall.

A follow up meeting will be held before the end of April, inviting everyone who has completed a form to come along.
