A SAUNDERSFOOT boat owner is £5,696 out of pocket after pleading guilty to unlicensed fishing six years ago.

David Balkwill, of Ocean Point, appearing before Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 3, admitted that between August 1 and September 17, 2019, at a location within Welsh waters, he had been the Owner and Master of the fishing boat Korey Jo when that vessel was used in breach of a prohibition imposed by Article 3(1) of the Sea Fish Licensing Order 1992. The vessel was used for fishing when not authorised to do so in accordance with a licence granted by one of the Ministers.

The 56-year-old was fined £2,640, plus costs of £2,000 and a surcharge of £1,056.
