With a Yellow weather warning for snow and ice issued by the MET Office, covering parts of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire, council gritting crews will be out this evening.

A spokesperson for Pembrokeshire County Council stated: “A Yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued by the MET Office and covers part of North East Pembrokeshire.

“Tonight (Monday) road surface temperatures are forecast to dip to below freezing with the risk of some localised sleet or even some hill snow on the highest roads.

“We will therefore be carrying out precautionary salting of the County’s primary and secondary routes this evening and overnight. Road users are advised to take care if travelling on untreated roads.”

In neighbouring county, a spokeperson for Carmarthenshire County Council stated: “A yellow warning of snow and ice has been issued for 5pm today until 10am tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7.

“Our gritting crews have been deployed this afternoon and will be out again during the night.

“As always, they are prepared and will respond to changing conditions over the coming days.

“Please keep an eye on weather forecasts and take extra care on your journeys.”
