THE 'Haven Ranger' is a new species of ranger to be found working at three Pembrokeshire holiday parks this year.

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority and Haven Holidays' long running partnership has culminated in two ranger recruits, Dai Draycott and Caz Smith, who will work at their family holiday parks at Lydstep Beach, Kiln Park and Penally Court.

Charles Mathieson, head of recreation and tourism, said: "The ranger roles are funded by Haven Holidays, but they are endorsed, trained and supported by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

"They will offer additional activities at no extra cost to holidaymakers to enhance their experience of this beautiful and diverse area.

"Community ranger Kiri Howell ran a successful induction programme with the new recruits who are looking forward to promoting the unique qualities of the Park with visitors through activities such as bushcraft, bat walks, historical walks and setting up a family ranger club."

Elma John, general manager at Kiln Park and Penally Court, said: "Our holiday guests really enjoy the additional activities that our rangers offer. We provide a wide range of facilities and entertainment for our guests, but the rngers are able to highlight the natural attributes that make this area so special. It's important that we work together in partnership with the National Park Authority to provide a high quality ranger service."
