Businesses in Pembrokeshire which have been affected by flooding after the recent heavy rain are being urged to seek help from a Relief Fund set up by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). The FSB will make up to £5,000 available by way of a short term interest free loan to any FSB member who has suffered financial hardship as a result of flooding - especially if there is no other financial support available. Stephen Cole, Pembrokeshire FSB county chairman, said: "I have been extremely concerned at the extent of the devastation across the country and the FSB, with over 205,000 members, the UK's largest business organisation, is determined to do all it can to help its members get back into business as soon as possible. We also expect the Environment Agency to do everything they can to help people get back into their homes and business and make plans to alleviate such events in the future." Mr. Cole also stated that a similar fund was established by the FSB during the 2001 Foot and Mouth crisis which had proved to be extremely successful. During the 2001 Foot and Mouth crisis, the FSB had given short term interest free loans totalling over £346,000 to FSB business members who had suffered substantial hardship. Initial enquiries about the fund should be made to Dai Davies, the FSB's regional organiser for South Wales.
