Plans for a new industrial centre hub between the A40 and the Tenby to Carmarthen railway line have been proposed.
It would be built near Llanllwch, just east of St Clears Road.
Across the rail line is Cillefwr Industrial Estate – home to Screwfix and Howdens stores among others.
The outline planning application to Carmarthenshire Council proposes 12 industrial units which would be for office, light industrial and storage and distribution uses.
A design and access statement submitted on behalf of the applicants said the 1.1 hectare site consisted of two sloping paddocks and that access would be from St Clears Road.
The site, it added, was part of a larger chunk of land earmarked for residential, employment and community facilities under the Council’s local development plan.
The proposal is for the majority of trees and hedgerows to be retained, with any felled ones to be replaced by oak or sycamore whips.
A transport assessment estimated there would be 223 vehicle movements in and out per day. The site is two miles west of Carmarthen.
Local landowners, councillors and consultees such as Natural Resources Wales have been notified of the proposal, with Carmarthenshire Town Council said to be supportive.
