The death occurred suddenly at home in Pembroke Dock, on August 2, of Nicholas Graham Thomas, known to all as Nick (or ‘Monkey’), aged 49.

Born in Tenby, where he lived for most of his life, he was the second son of Eileen and Graham Thomas, of Broadmoor. He was educated at Pentlepoir CP School and Greenhill Secondary School, Tenby.

For many years, Nick ran his own taxi business from Tenby, but his real love was music. Over the years he sang and played in various local bands, and as a solo performer, at many venues throughout South Pembrokeshire. He was a self-taught guitarist who was quite highly regarded for his musical ability by many of his music peers. He enjoyed playing - and listening to others play - in many genres, from rock and pop, through folk and blues, to classical. He was one of a group which instigated the first Blues Festival in Tenby, which has become an annual event in the local musical calendar.

He was a big Rolling Stones fan, and had great pleasure in attending a few of their concerts over the years. He was also a keen follower of the Wales rugby team, enjoying especially the Home International games.

Since moving to Pembroke Dock a few years ago, he had made many new friends - among the music fraternity (especially through Pembroke Music Club), also with a walking group, spending many enjoyable times on organised walks throughout Pembrokeshire and further afield. During the last year he had joined the fellowship of Bethel Baptist Church, Pembroke Dock, where he was so well received and made welcome by all.

Nick’s funeral took place on August 23, at Cold Inn Baptist Church, where the large congregation was testament to his popularity in the locality.

Family left to mourn are: Eileen and Graham (parents), Eliot (son), Ian and Anya (brother and sister-in-law), Clare and Sean (sister and brother-in-law), Matt and Catrin (brother and partner), Anna (sister), Gemma, Sophie and Alice, Nia, Meg, Olivia, Gabe, Arlo and Jasper, Alex and Emma and Izzy and Olly (nephews and nieces), Pam, Lydia and Judith (aunts) and many cousins and spouses.

Unable to attend were Mary and Brian (aunt and uncle).

Officiating at the funeral service was Father Paul Davies, assisted by Rev. David Faulkner and Canon Michael Lewis, while bearers were Ian and Matt (brothers), Alex (nephew) and Adrian (friend).
