Interact clubs are formed with members being of secondary school age. In the UK they are generally school based, with close liaison with the local Rotary Club. There are over 6400 Interact clubs active in over 100 countries worldwide. Dyffryn Taf School has now one of eight Interact Clubs in South and West Wales. The clubs help develop leadership skills and self confidence through teamwork and doing things for others. Projects are undertaken to help provide services to the local community and internationally. In so doing, opportunities are gained for the young members to gather knowledge and understanding of local and world affairs. Dyffryn Taf Interact has already embarked on charitable work in the Whitland area, and has completed emergency aid and water filtration packages for international disaster relief. Dyffryn Taf school Interact Club has very recently received its official Charter from Rotary International. It has a strong membership of sixth formers and enthusiastic leadership, with plans to extend participation to younger classes. The photograph shows Interact president-elect Amy Robinson receiving the club's Charter from Wales Assembly Government Minister, Carwyn Jones.
