At the recent AGM and general meeting of Kilgetty and Begelly Community Council a new chair was elected.

Cllr Jerry Long (the community council’s current vice chair) was nominated by Cllr Quigley for the position, with Cllr Lockley seconding the proposal at the meeting which took place on May 9.

Cllr Long accepted, with all councillors in full agreement.

In addressing his fellow members, Cllr Long thanked all for their support and said that he hoped that the Council would continue to work as it has been over the last three months, working together to achieve what’s best for the Community.

He noted the work carried out by the Task and Finish groups being important, however, he suggested that it was the same few individuals that continue to carry out the work, and where possible, more support from fellow councillors was needed.

He said that councillors need to be more recognisable within the Community, and a few initiatives would be put in place to assist this.

Cllr Long nominated Cllr Lockley for the position of Vice Chair of the Community Council, with Cllr Quigley seconding the proposal.
