A recent karting challenge has seen over £10,000 raised for a Pembrokeshire charity.

The West Wales Karting Paul Sartori Challenge is a Pembrokeshire-based competition, one of the biggest charity karting challenges in Wales.

The event has brought together hundreds of teams and businesses from across Pembrokeshire and beyond.

With the help of local businesses, the event has grown year-on-year, and between 2018 and 2022, it has raised an enormous £49,924.23 for The Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service.

2023 saw the return of this incredibly popular event. This year has seen five nights of thrills and excitement as the teams battled it out to win a bronze, silver, or gold trophy at the end of the evening.

The winners of each night then secure their place in the final.

During the build up to each race, teams fundraised to secure their position on the grid. The more the teams raised, the higher up the grid they went!

With the ultimate fundraising team winning the Adrian Harrold Fundraising Trophy, donated by Val Harrold in loving memory of her dear late husband.

This year’s winner, The Cleaners, raised £2,070 and get to keep the shield for a second year in a row.

Special thanks go to Graham Francis who attends every event to ensure a BBQ is available free of charge for the racers and supporters.

Thanks also to the dedicated Paul Sartori volunteers who help on the registration desk, making refreshments, and expressing our thanks and gratitude at the end of the night.

This year, the teams taking part in the event raised £10,490 taking the total amount raised by all teams since 2018 to an incredible £60,414.23.

Sandra Dade, Charity Manager, said: “It is a huge privilege to be a part of this event. The West Wales Karting team work so hard engaging businesses, family, and friends’ teams throughout the year. The race nights are electric.

“We are amazed each year at the amount each team raises and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has entered the competition.

“Your support of these teams has helped to raise such a phenomenal amount which is a crucial contribution to the £1.1 million a year needed to sustain the Hospice at Home Services.”

The team at West Wales Karting said: “It has been a privilege to be able to support the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Services again this year with such a busy and popular event.”
