Community groups and organisations across Carmarthenshire can apply for funding to support safe and warm places for residents to spend time in this winter.

To be eligible for this funding, groups or organisations must:

  • Be based in and/or serve and support Carmarthenshire residents
  • Demonstrate that the proposal will directly benefit residents and communities in Carmarthenshire
  • Be a constituted community group or a registered Charity or CIO based in Wales
  • Other entities would be considered where there is no other community facility providing relevant support within the locality

Groups and organisations across the county can apply for funding from £1,000 up to £2,500.

Cllr Linda Davies Evans, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Homes said: “We are encouraging community groups and organisations who want to provide open and inclusive spaces in their communities to apply for funding.”

“These spaces will provide warmth, refreshment and social activities for anyone in need this winter and we welcome applications on behalf of both new and existing warm spaces.”

Successful grants can be used to pay for staff costs, volunteer expenses, activities and materials. Up to £50 per day can be claimed towards overheads such as heating and electricity as well as a maximum of £300 over three months towards refreshments.

Applications must be submitted by 12pm on 6 January 2025. Decisions will be made the week commencing 13 January. It is anticipated that it will not be possible to fund all applications.
