Pembrokeshire County Council teams have been collaborating with multi-agency partners, such as Natural Resources Wales, to ensure communities are as prepared as possible for Storm Ciarán.

The yellow Met Office alert for heavy rain came into force in Wales at 6pm this evening until 11:59pm on Thursday, including a yellow warning for Pembrokeshire.

The largest rainfall is expected across South Wales but most of Wales will see heavy rain. There is also a yellow wind warning in force for the south and south west coastline from 9pm tonight (Wednesday) until 11:59pm Thursday – and an amber warning for wind has been issued for the very tip of the south West Wales coast for 3am – 1pm tomorrow (Thursday) which could lead to large waves.  

The high levels of expected rainfall could potentially lead to river flooding with rain falling on already saturated ground – and rivers already swollen following the recent period of very wet weather.

The PCC Emergency Planning team has been liaising with key service areas to ensure they are prepared and impact is minimal so they can continue to support our communities. Updates on a variety of potential service impacts such as social care and waste and recycling will be communicated to residents – tune into the Council’s social media platforms.

Remember that operational teams will be extremely busy during this time so any of residents requesting assistance should report through to the contact centre so that the issues can be prioritised.

 The current Flood Guidance Statement is yellow for south and mid Wales today (Wednesday) and yellow for all of Wales on Thursday.

Significant risk to life and disruption to the community is expected for the next high tides. Flooding has become more extensive at the Kiln Park Caravan site. Residents at Kiln Park may be asked to leave site. It’s important that residents comply with directions from the emergency services.

Be aware some roads in this area may be closed. Strong winds are expected later this evening and this is also likely to cause disruption. Due to the restriction of the tidal outfall, water levels will rise over the period of each high tide. The next peak is expected to occur at 11pm this evening, Wednesday, November 1. Water levels will fluctuate due to the rain overnight and the arrival of Storm Ciaran.

A continued trend of increasing river level is anticipated. It is possible river levels could reach the highest on record. Access to and from the Kiln Park caravan site may be affected. Further disruption in the area is possible. You can monitor the situation in your area by using our River Levels Online Service on our website. National Resources Wales has issued a severe flood warning for our community.

Here's what you need to know:

Areas Affected: Kiln Park caravan site, B4318 road at Clicketts Lane, Gumfreston Road, and Trefloyne Lane.

Disruption: There's a significant risk to life and community disruption expected for the next high tides. Some roads in these areas might be closed. If you're in Kiln Park, be prepared as you may be asked to leave. Always follow the directions of emergency services.

Weather Alert: Strong winds are anticipated later this evening which could cause further disruptions, compounded by the arrival of Storm Ciaran.

Next Peak: The situation is predicted to escalate around 11 pm tonight. With the influence of overnight rain and the storm, river levels might reach record highs.

Travel & Access: Traveling to and from the Kiln Park caravan site could be problematic. Please exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel. Stay Updated:
