The Paul Sartori Community Choir, established in April 2022, was initially set up to unite the community and to raise awareness and funds for the local charity - Paul Sartori Hospice at Home.
Now nearly two and half years later, the choir has significantly supported the charity, but has also supported other good causes in the community - attending joint fundraising concerts for St Mary’s Church in Haverfordwest and in Begelly.
The choir has proudly attended over 20 fundraising events since it was established raising £1,000s for the charity and other good causes. They have supported the charity’s Light up a Life concerts.
It is not all work for the choir – they enjoy the social aspects, and the forming of friendships.
The choir is led by Mark Heron, Musical Director, who has a special association with the charity.
He was christened by Father Paul Sartori himself (the inspiration for the charity) and has grown up with the charity. His family had a personal connection with Father Sartori and later went onto support the charity when it was established in 1982.
“It is a privilege to lead this wonderful choir and to help support and promote the work of the charity,” said Mark.
“The choir brings a lot of happiness to choir members, myself and audiences alike. This is the true essence of what our choir is all about and I very much look forward to what the next year brings!”
They have enjoyed the opportunity to collaborate with others including the Milford Haven Town Band, Haverfordwest Male Voice Choir, Neyland Ladies Choir and look forward to more collaborations in the future.
Their next performances include Haverfordwest Town Council Civic Carol Service in December, along with carol singing and Christmas songs at Tesco Haverfordwest on December 21.
In 2025, they have another exciting performance planned for the Paul Sartori Light up a Life Concert (in collaboration with Shalom) on Saturday, January 25 at St Davids Cathedral collaborating with Bella Voce and Cwm Cerwyn Ensemble.
And who knows, a tour maybe on the cards for the future!
