Ysgol Dyffryn Taf, Whitland, has achieved very pleasing results in this year’s GCSE examinations.

“We feel that the partnership between pupils, parents and teachers has contributed to this success and the dedicated effort by pupils has been justifiably rewarded,” said headteacher Mr. Robert Newsome OBE.

“The curriculum allows for focused career pathways for students and they have responded positively to this,” he added.

The range of subjects at Dyffryn Taf highlights a blend of academic and vocational subjects on offer and meets the needs and aspirations of our students.

There have been significant changes to curriculum delivery in Wales and the measures used by government to judge success.

At this stage, the school can confirm the following results: number of pupils achieving five A* - C (on entry) - 86.4 per cent; number of pupils achieving 5 A* - G (on entry) - 99.2 per cent; number of pupils achieving 5 A* - C (including maths/English) - 56.1 per cent.

Among the high achievers were: Joseph Phelps (9A*, 1A, 1B); Megan Goodwin (8A*, 3A); Rosie Mammatt (8A*, 2A, 1B); Stephen Pilot (8A*, 2A, 1B); Elin Jones (7A*, 3A, 1B); Iwan Morgans (7A*, 3A, 1C); Yoshan Mumberson (4A*, 6A, 1B).
